On Tuesday April 15, we celebrated our first anniversary. Despite a torrential rain in the morning, the kind Venetian skies cleared by late afternoon and we were able to celebrate with friends on Fondamenta San Basegio. Among these were American author and journalist Cat Bauer, artist Carla Erizzo and actor Ambra Curato. It was also wonderful to see clients and friends such as Alain Henriot and Olga Strada, and many more.
We celebrated the anniversary by officially opening a new show of work by Katia Margolis, A Woman is an Island, a gorgeous cycle of work including statues in glass, etchings on silk and paper, and Katia's original etching plates that have now been triumphantly transformed into finished mixed-media paintings in their own right. This exhibition's central theme is a meditation on womanhood and femininity, strength and vulnerability, seen through Margolis's beguiling and original Venetian optic of light, colour and texture.
We take this opportunity to thank our friends and neighbours on Fondamenta San Basegio, in particular Luciano Chen of Blue Bar, and Simone of Osteria da Toni, the excellent restaurant next door to the gallery.
This year will see an exciting program of exhibitions and events over the summer and autumn. Do come and see us if you're travelling to Venice and subscribe to our mailing list for further news of our plans for 2025.
