Vert de Venise Contemporary Art is an open studio-gallery-atelier, a creative workshop designed to celebrate Venice – its beauty and its traditions, its role as a muse to generations of local and international artists and craftsmen: painters, engravers, textile designers, ceramicists, jewellers, glassmakers, bookbinders, publishers and many more.

Vert de Venise contemporary art gallery

All Vert de Venise artists and collaborators celebrate Venice in paper and ink, in light and texture, in glass, in fabric and pigment, in traditional and experimental techniques, in historical and cultural reminiscences.

Vert de Venise aims to build an everlasting bridge between traditional Venetian arts and crafts and contemporary art. In the coming months, the gallery will showcase works by a wide variety of local and international artists and craftsmen, all united by their enduring love for Venice. Bridges are an insistent emblem of Venice itself, its metaphor. The Vert de Venise project will involve linking and harmonising the work of many different artists over the coming year – building bridges between islands of creativity.

The bridged archipelago of miniature islands that constitutes Venice perfectly mirrors the personal connections that keep the city alive: ‘No man is an island’, whether he is a home-grown Venetian or an adopted one, a guest or a transient venetophile traveller.
